Introduction
Parents, family members, and people close to youth, have a big impact on a child's future success and image of themselves. Family members and other supportive adults can also help identify opportunities and set expectations for what's possible for a young person.
This training provides families with tools and strategies to advocate for their child's future. The goal is to empower and strengthen families to open doors for youth with disabilities.
Module 1: Building a Positive Description
In this module you will create a positive description of your child, based on what he or she can do, and not on his or her disability.

Module 2: Overcoming Barriers to Employment
In this module, you will identify your child’s interests, skills and ideal conditions for employment so that you can support your child as he or she explores possible jobs and careers.

In this module you will learn how to use the information you gathered about your child to identify career clusters and begin career exploration.

- See that their child with a disability can work
- Learn solutions to common barriers to having a job
- Describe their child’s strengths and abilities in a positive way
- Identify steps they can take now to support their child for life after high school
